The inner petals of many forms of this flower take the form of a delicate bell, and they are shielded from the elements by a set of spurred sepals, which function as the flower's outer petals. They are resistant to drought and deer as well as having the ability to reach heights of up to three feet and widths of up to two feet. Columbine is a flower that is grown for its ornamental value, however it is poisonous to both people and animals.
