About the Author
Rabbi Judy Caplan Ginsburgh is a professional singer who received a degree in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana where her family has lived since the mid-1800's. After working and living in Indiana, Illinois, Texas and Washington, DC, Judy moved back home to Louisiana in 1987. Since 1981, Judy has made her living sharing Jewish music on pulpits throughout North America having sung in 40 of our US states and Canada. She served as cantorial soloist at Touro Synagogue in New Orleans, LA for two years and has sung as the High Holy Day soloist at B'nai Shalom in Fairfax Station, VA for fifteen years. Judy has also produced several award winning recordings of Jewish music including the best-selling Shalom Yeladim and My Jewish World which was commissioned by the URJ. Judy is a certified sound healer and uses tuning forks, crystal bowls and vocal toning in her practice. She is also the founder and director of Central Louisiana Arts & Healthcare, Inc., a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to bring innovative arts experiences into healthcare settings to assist with the healing process. She received rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute in January, 2014. Judy's honors include: Religious Heritage of America Special Music Award, Society for the Arts in Healthcare/Blair Sadler International Healing Arts Award, National Art Education Association Award, Jubilation Award from the Tides Foundation and several Parents' Choice Awards for her recordings. Judy lives in Louisiana with her husband, Bob. They have three children, Rachel, Aaron and Jonathan, two granddaughters, Maddie and Marlee and a granddog, Griffin.
